2 Samuel 19:35-37

³⁵ I am now eighty years old. Can I distinguish between what is pleasant and what is not? Can your servant taste what he eats or what he drinks? Can I still hear the voices of men and women singing? Why then should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?

³⁶ “Your servant will go a short distance across the Jordan with the king. That hardly makes me worthy to receive such a generous reward. ³⁷ Please allow your servant to return to his own town and end his days there, near the graves of my father and my mother. But here is your servant Chimham. Let him cross over with my lord the king, and then do for him whatever you think is right.”
